Police Rescue 7-Year-Old ,Arrest 12 in Greater Masaka Kidnapping Case

Police in Greater Masaka have recovered a 7-year-old pupil and arrested 12 suspects concerning the kidnapping which took place on March 21, 2025, at around 7:00 am from Dimo landing site in Masaka District.

Police in Greater Masaka have rescued a 7-year-old pupil and arrested 12 suspects in connection with his kidnapping that occurred on March 21, 2025, at approximately 7:00 AM at the Dimo landing site in Masaka District.

Preliminary investigations show  that two men on a red Boxer motorcycle were allegedly seen  kidnapping the victim while he was  on his way to school.

“The kidnappers later contacted the victim’s family, demanding a ransom of UGX 200,000, which was promptly paid. However, there was no further communication from the kidnappers,” Kasirye  Twaha the Regional Police Spokesperson for  Masaka reported in a  statement issued on Monday, March 24, 202

He stated that on March 24, 2025, a rescue operation was conducted at 1700hrs which led to the saving of the kidnapped child.

“The child was dropped off at GAZ petrol station in Kalisizo district by the kidnappers, who were tricked into doing so in exchange for a ransom of 5 million,” Twaha stated.

“The kidnappers had arranged for the child to be taken to the mother in a taxi however police managed to apprehend the suspects in the process,” he added.

Police identified the arrested suspects as Lutaya Nelson, a motorcycle rider; Maria Gorrete Nambajjo, an accomplice; Prossy Namugamba, the sister of the prime suspect; Rosemary Namukwaya, the mother of the prime suspect; Matia Serugo, the brother of the prime suspect; Kasumba Yuda, the father of the prime suspect; Tonny Sikyomu and Robert Yawe, both friends of the prime suspect; Paul Kiwendo, an accomplice; Hussein Muhammad, an accomplice; Dennis Masereka, a taxi driver; and Emma Wamala, a taxi conductor..

Police however reported that the prime suspect, Tusibira Pius, is still at large and  urged anyone with information on his whereabouts to contact the police.
