Kampala Metropolitan Police (KMP) South and Kajjansi police have recovered an SAR gun stolen from Go Cult Sports Recreation Centre.

SCP Fred Enanga, the police spokesperson, identified the culprit as Okello Ben, a former private security guard who stole the SAR pistol from two private guards on duty at Go Cult Sports Recreation Centre on July 28th, 2023, around 8:30 p.m.

Enanaga confirmed that the suspect was arrested at Chogam trading centre, and the gun was recovered from the kanzu he was wearing.

“In this respect, the suspect went to Go CULT sports recreation centre, where he tricked one of the guards, Ogwal Sam, with 1500 shillings to go buy him chapatti’s, and that’s where he took advantage of hitting the other colleague with a stone on his head and robbed the gun,” Enanga added.

Enanga further stated that the suspect had a previous record of theft of a gun, which occurred on May 13th, 2023, from a private guard at the Forest Resort Hotel in Lwezza “A” zone, Mutungo parish, Ndejje division. The gun was recovered, and the suspect was charged in court for stealing the firearm but later released.

The police have embarked on sensitising the public about the dangers of illegal possession of fire arms, and the arrests of the suspect will bring justice and relief to the country.

According to police, the suspect is scheduled to appear in court on two counts of stealing a firearm, illegal possession of firearm and attempted murder.
