Police Probe Tragic Death of 12-Year-Old Girl in Makindye Well Accident

 Police in Makindye Division are currently investigating the tragic death of a 12-year-old girl who fell into a 100-meter deep well in Abass Village, Luwafu Parish.

According to a statement issued by Police on January 22, 2025, a rescue operation was conducted by the police fire and rescue services  following the incident that happened on January 21, 2025.

“The team responded to a distress call in Luwafu Abbas zone, where a 12-year-old girl, Kagimu Bossa, had fallen into a 100-meter deep well (shardoof). Unfortunately, she did not survive,” police said.

The police further revealed that a male security guard who attempted to rescue her was rescued alive and taken to Kirudu Referral Hospital for treatment.

Residents in the area are urging potential safety measures to be taken to prevent similar incidents in the future.

This incident highlights ongoing concerns about child safety in the region, as there have been multiple cases of child-related fatalities in the country. Police have urged the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities that could pose risks to children.
