Police in Sembabule district are investigating circumstances under which a 52-year-old man was beaten to death by unidentified people at a party.

This incident happened on September 4, 2024, in Mateete Sub County, during a get-together party.

The deceased has been identified as Moses Mugera, a resident of Katwe Kiinyamazzi village in Sembabule district.

According to the eyewitnesses, Mugera was accused of having an affair with an unidentified housewife at the party.

“We found many broken sticks and bricks around Magera that were used to kill him; however, he was in a very sorry state and could not even talk,’’ the eyewitnesses revealed.

One of the locals called Bwete revealed that Magera might have been beaten up by the suspected thugs or by people who were sent by the woman’s husband.

Bwete added that Magera’s attackers took advantage of the loud music to attack him since nobody could listen to his scream due to loud musing from the party.

“Mugera’s death has so many questions around it; therefore, police need to investigate and find the culprits who did this injustice to him,” Bwete disclosed.

Bwete added that Mugera died on the way while being rushed to Masaka Regional Referral Hospital.

In an interview with journalists on September 5, 2024, the Greater Masaka police spokesperson, SP Twaha Kasirye, confirmed this incident. He said the search is ongoing to apprehend the suspects behind his murder.
