Police in Wakiso and Bulenga have arrested 11 suspects in connection with an aggravated robbery involving Muganzi Felix, a 23-year-old boda boda operator.

Luke Owoyesigyire, the Deputy Police Spokesperson, Kampala Metropolitan, said while speaking at the police headquarters in Naguru on April 2, 2024, that in the early hours of April 2, 2024, Muganzi was subjected to a distressing ordeal while fulfilling his duties as a boda boda operator.

According to Owoyesigyire, two individuals, identified as Joel Amanya and another only known as Ibrah, hired Muganzi to transport them to the Nakuwade area. Upon reaching a dimly lit area, they viciously attacked Mr. Felix with a panga, attempting to rob his motorcycle, registration number UEN 484A.

“During the altercation, Mr. Muganzi bravely resisted and managed to overpower one of the assailants, Amanya Joel, with the assistance of residents. But the other perpetrator fled the scene with his motorcycle. The swift response of the Bulenga Police Station led to the apprehension of Joel Amanya and the recovery of Mr. Felix’s stolen motorcycle,” Owoyesigyire stated.

During the inquiry, police also discovered a cache of five suspected stolen motorcycles and eight motorcycle number plates at Muganda Ali Garage in Nateete, which resulted in the arrest of the following individuals: Peter Buye (18 years old), Enock Kizza (18 years old), Isma Kayondo (17 years old), Edward Ssenyondo (18 years old), Joseph Sekiwala (19 years old), Mahadhi Ssempijja (20 years old), Swabul Luwaga (15 years old), Christopher Lujja (19), Muzumir Sseruga (17 years old), Dan Mukuye (age 22), and Abdul Birungi Mutwalib (17 years old).

Owoyesigyire assures the public that investigations into this matter are ongoing and that he is committed to ensuring that all individuals involved in this criminal activity are brought to justice. However, the owner of Muganda Ali Garage, identified as Ali Muganda, remains at large, and efforts to locate and apprehend him are underway.

The Uganda police force extended their gratitude to the community for their cooperation and assistance in apprehending the suspects and recovering the stolen property.
