A former teacher has been apprehended by the Uganda Police in collaboration with the Uganda National Examination Board (UNEB) for distributing fake Primary Leaving Examination (PLE) papers. The teacher, identified as Tom Okwenyi and currently affiliated with a multinational agency, created a social media platform called ‘Elite SST Senior Examiners’ through which he shared the fake papers to a group comprising more than 1500 members.
Jennipher Kalule Musamba, the Principal Public Relations Officer of UNEB, disclosed the details of the case today November 6, 2023, mentioning that the falsified papers were designated as ‘Fertilizers.’ Furthermore, Musamba revealed that UNEB’s security teams are currently tracing another group suspected of circulating a separate set of fake PLE papers under the label ‘beans.’
Alongside these investigations, UNEB is simultaneously conducting three sets of examinations, namely PLE, UCE, and UACE. Currently in its fourth week, the UCE exams commenced with Entrepreneurship Education, which will be followed by Christian and Islamic Religious Education later in the day, Musamba confirmed.
Additionally, preparations for the forthcoming Primary Leaving Examination (PLE) are underway, with the central distribution of examination papers in progress. Tomorrow, November 7, 2023, a briefing for PLE candidates will take place, and they will formally sit for their exams on November 8 and 9, 2023.
While the briefing for other personnel began last week and is ongoing, UNEB is scheduled to inaugurate the UACE examination on Friday, November 10, 2023. On that same day, the briefing for UACE candidates will be conducted.
