OPINION: The Planned March to Parliament is Dead on Arrival after Being Hijacked by LGBTQ Crusaders

The planned march to parliament by the opposition on July 23, purportedly demonstrating against the corruption at parliament, is an exercise that started on a good note. The march against the human rights violations perpetrated by the Parliament and its leaders was looked at as a good cause until it was hijacked by gay activists and funders.

According to reliable sources, the anticipated demonstration is being funded by gay activists from western countries, and participants in the demonstration shall be expected to put on LGBTQ-branded clothes as a sign of pride and solidarity.

“It is time for the LGBTQ fraternity in Uganda to have their voices heard, and we have already secured T-shirts to put on the D-day; we have enough branded T-shirts and caps to distribute. It is a good opportunity for us to recruit more Ugandans to join the homosexuality struggle,” a gay activist narrated.

With the current corruption trends in the country and endless cries from the citizens, the aggrieved Ugandans thought they had finally gotten a chance to express their dissatisfaction to the powers that be. In the turn of events, it has come out that the demonstration is purely for homosexuals fighting for the repeal of the anti-homosexuality bill.

The new revelation has been received with shock by Ugandans of good will, and the demonstration will be dead on arrival since the majority of Ugandans wouldn’t want to be identified with the gay community.

In African developing countries, genuine causes are always diverted and hijacked by selfish interests, which is why many planned peaceful protests have turned violent and been nipped in the bud by security agencies. This has made many citizens lose interest in such planned protests and instead decide to concentrate on their businesses and fend for their families rather than just follow organizers pushing for their selfish interests.

Uganda is a country that holds cultural values and heritage in high regard, which is why the anti-homosexuality bill was passed almost unanimously. The LGBTQ crusaders have been unhappy since then, slapping sanctions and cutting funding, as well as scheming protests while disguising themselves as human rights defenders.

It is obvious that Ugandans will shun the forthcoming march to parliament and ignore it with the contempt it deserves. It is also sad that these gay promoters are looking at it as an opportunity to recruit innocent children into the homosexuality business. Ugandans will stand united against the evil of homosexuality and shall vehemently and relentlessly defend their culture and values.
