Police Football Club has appointed Simon Peter Mugerwa as the new head coach on a two-year contract.

This was revealed in a press statement released by the club on Wednesday, September 20, 2023.

“Police Football Club has appointed Simon Peter Mugerwa as the new head coach on a two-year contract,” read part of the statement.

This development comes after the start of the 2023–2024 FUFA Big League season.

According to RTD CP PK Arinaitwe, the Chief Executive Officer of the Police Football Club, Mugerwa, a CAF B holder, replaces Angelo Lonyesi, who took charge of the team last season.

Arinaitwe said that Mugerwa’s experience in football coaching at several clubs like Fire Masters, Sports Club Villa (assistant coach), Soltilo Bright Stars (assistant/interim head coach), and recently Proline FC (head coach) will add value to the team.

In addition, he has guided Bulemeezi (2019) and Busiro (2022) to Masaza Cup success.

Mugerwa will be deputised by Robert Sekweyama and Nestroy Kizito as the first and second assistant coaches, respectively. Ben Lwanga Kalama is the new goalkeeper coach, while Fazil Ibrahim has been retained as the club’s fitness coach.

Police FC will play their first game on September 25, 2023, against the Young Elephant Football Club at Kavumba Recreation Playground.

Police FC finished fifth in the 2022-2023 FUFA Big League season.
