The former Leader of the Opposition in Parliament, MP Mathias Mpuuga (Nyendo-Mukungwe County), has warned Robert Kyagulanyi, the leader of the Opposition National Unity Platform party, NUP, not to dare use the upcoming march to parliament for self-promotion.
Mpuuga’s warning stemmed from Monday’s Bobi Wine’s utterances during a rally in Bundibugyo, where he asked Ugandans to riot and cause chaos, as was recently done by a section of Kenyan youths.
According to Mpuuga, as usual, Kyagulanyi and his radical gangsters are planning to hijack the event and use it to appease his sponsors (homosexual persons) and his political gain.
Mpuuga said the march to parliament is not being organized by NUP leaders and questioned why Bobi Wine would be telling people to behave like Kenyans and fight for their rights.
“His purpose is to use these youths to incite violence and also to show his funders that he is fighting for the human rights of the marginalized groups in Uganda,” said Mpuuga.
Mpuuga said, “Beyond staging protests, what has Kyagulanyi done that gives any alternative to the current issues raised? All he knows is to attack colleagues and spread propaganda.”
MP Dr. Twaha Kagabo (NUP) has asked Bobi Wine not to turn the event into chaos like he normally does to get pictures for his funders for accountability.
“I detest rowdy protests; that is why I fell out with Bobi Wine. Instead of giving alternative ideas to the problems in the country, he wants protests where people’s shops are looted and property destroyed, among others. Bobi Wine only cares about personal benefits,” Kagabo said.
On Monday, police claimed the event had not been cleared and maintained it as illegal.
