Masaka-Kampala Highway Accident Kills NWSC Senior Manager , Family Members

A top official at the National Water and Sewerage Corporation (NWSC), Engineer Bbaale Francis, along with his family, perished in a nasty accident along the Masaka-Kampala Highway on Friday, April 7, 2023.

According to a NWSC source, Bbaale has been the network manager for the Eastern Zone under Kampala Water.

In a statement by ASP Faridah Nampiima,the traffic police spokesperson, the accident happened at around 4 p.m. when an Alphard brand vehicle carrying the family members collided head-on with a trailer at Kyooko, Kinoni Trading Centre, Lwengo district.

“The accident involved motor vehicle registration numbers UBL 314C and Alphad, which were travelling from Kampala side heading to Mbarara, and motor vehicle registration numbers SSD 327S/SSD 137Q, which were from Mbarara/Kinoni town. The two motor vehicles had a head-on collision,” police confirmed.

Nampiima added that preliminary findings indicate that the Alphard driver was over speeding and was keeping right, where he crashed head-on with the fuel tanker, killing nine people on the spot who were passengers in the Alphard.

The deceased include Bbaale Francis, Samuel Mutyaba, his wife, their two children, and others yet to be identified.

She revealed that the fuel truck driver and his turn man sustained injuries and were rushed for treatment in Masaka referral hospital.
