Police are on the hunt for a one Watenga Paul for allegedly cutting off his lover’s left hand and severely cutting her other body parts, including her genitals. The victim was identified as Jeniffer Nakkazi, a resident of Nabiyagi village, Kyampisi Parish, Mukono district.

According to Kampala Metropolitan spokesperson ASP Luke Owoyesigyire, the suspect drew a panga and cut the victim, left her in a pool of blood, folded her in a tarpaulin, and fled.

At about 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, Watenga got out the panga and cut Nakkazi several times on the hands, shoulders, legs, and private parts. After that, he folded her in to the blue tarpaulin, locked her in the house, and fled,” said Owoyesigyire.

Owoyesigyire said the 27-year-old Watenga suspected his 37-year-old lover Nakkazi of cheating after he found her with a man identified as Isaac and accused them of being in love. The suspect then ran after Isaac with the intention of cutting him, but later turned his anger towards Nakkazi after he failed to get hold of Isaac.

Nakkazi further revealed to the police that her relationship with Watenga was only 2 months old, but he was so jealous to the extent that he threatened to kill any man that came close to her.

Residents revealed that the Nakibano Parish Priest, Fr. Simon Peter Ssessanga, rushed the victim to St. Francis Naggalama Hospital after her 2-year-old son was heard helplessly crying inside the house, which compelled the neighbors to rush to her rescue.

According to the medical workers at the hospital, Nakkazi’s left hand was completely cut off, and it cannot be fixed back after the long hours it took her to get medical attention. Deep cuts on the head, shoulder, and right hand, as well as two broken legs, were also reported.

Owoyesigire stated that the police have opened a case of attempted murder against Watenga, and investigations into the matter are already underway.
