Police in Mateete have started investigating circumstances under which a gang of machete-wielding thugs attacked residents of Kiterede village and left one resident brutally cut and in a severe condition.

This incident happened on May 20, 2024, at around 10:00 p.m. in Kiterede village in Mateete Sub County.

The person who was attacked has been identified as Joseph Lwakiseta, a laundry worker from Kiterede village in Sembabule district.

Lwakiseta was going outside to take a bath when he was viciously attacked at his home in Kiterede along the Kabundi-Nakagongo road.

While being interviewed by journalists on May 21, 2024, Alosiyious Ssali, a neighbor to Lwakiseta, said that Lwakiseta was attacked by the machete-wielding thugs as he was heading to take a bath in his outside bathroom. They struck his whole body with a machete and left him with deep cuts.

Ssali added that when Lwakiseta’s wife saw that her husband had taken a long time to come back to the house, she went to check up on him, but to her dismay, her husband was unconscious on the floor, with deep wounds on his body and drenched in a lot of blood.

“When Lwakiseta’s wife screamed for help, we came to her rescue and took her husband to Bamu Hospital in Mateete, but unfortunately, the doctors could not handle his situation, so we proceeded to Kabundi-Nakagongo roadfor better treatment and first aid,’’ Ssali revealed.

Ssali highlighted that despite getting better treatment at Masaka Referral Hospital, Lwakiseta’s condition has not changed because the wounds he got are so many and deep, and he also lost a lot of blood, which is so worrying.

Police in Mateete said that a statement will be released after thorough investigations have been carried out.
