Luzira Secondary School Student punches security guard to death

A senior four student of Luzira Secondary School identified as Duncan Byambala is on the run after he reportedly punched the school security guard to death following a scuffle that ensued at the school gate.

According to Kampala Metropolitan Police Deputy Spokesperson, ASP Luke Owoyesigyire, the security guard identified as Geofrey Mugerwa collapsed after he was punched by the student and was pronounced dead a few moments later. This incident happened yesterday Tuesday, 25th October 2022.

He also added that the Police at Jinja road is investigating the matter however, the suspect is still on the run after the incident.

“Senior 4 student on the run after boxing the security guard at Luzira SS. Geofrey the security guard collapsed after the boxing and was announced dead a few minutes later the Police at Jinja Road is investigating,” said ASP Owoyesigyire.

According to eye witnesses, the scuffle begun when the gateman Geofrey tried to stop the student from moving out of the school premises, prompting a scene that led to his death.

According to the journal of psychology in students, violence in schools can take many forms, ranging from physical violence to psychological violence. It is often expressed through acts of bullying, intimidation and repression. Violence in schools creates insecurity and fear which harm the general school climate and infringe pupils’ right to learn in a safe, nonthreatening environment.

Following scenarios like that in Luzira Secondary school, the journal recommends general counseling for the rest of the students to detest violent methods of solving problems.
