Lumbuye Leaves NUP and Boni Wine in Catch 22

The National Unity Platform has remained silent and suspiciously distanced from motormouth blogger Fred kajjubi Lumbuye who has been missing for almost two weeks in Turkey.

Whereas some members of the party such as Secretary General Lewis Rubongoya has come out with a statement, it was on personal basis and not a party stand.

Lumbuye has on almost daily occasion refered to himself as the party’s unofficial online spokesman. Party President Robert Kyagulanyi on one occasion claimed that Lumbuye is the only blogger he trusted with the party’s secrets.

However, Lumbuyes controversial stand on many topics not least Mengo has left NUP in a position of discomfort.

The party has an obligation to stand with Lumbuye yet are not willing to be seen endorsing his message and means.

Mengo is the keystone of the NUP party strategy yet are also key target of Lumbuyes controversial rhetoric.

This has put NUP in a spot that is set to define it’s identity. Do they stand with one of their top propagandists and mobilizer or do they take the high road and abandon him by the wayside?

We wait to see how the fledging infant party decides to position it’s self in this zero sum game of cat and mouse. It will also be a defining moment for President Robert Kyagulanyi. Will he remain untouchable among the party’s uncontrollable bloggers or will questions regarding the treatment of the dissident prove to be a turning point in his cult leader status?
