Members of parliament are furious with some ministers who have made it a habit of missing parliament sittings which leads to government failure to respond to matters of national importance raised by the lawmakers.

This followed after the absence of all ministers of finance in the house on Tuesday, leading to the postponement of the motion for a resolution of parliament to authorize government to borrow USD 90m from World Bank to finance the Uganda secondary school education expansion project.

The deputy speaker Rt Hon Anita Among warned the ministers against taking parliament business for granted noting that they had received the order paper the previous day.

Hon Among said the actions of the ministers in question was an act of total contempt of parliament since none of two had informed her office about their absence.

She warned the ministers not to joke about matters of national importance.

Earlier before, the Minister of State for Gender, Labour and Social Development (Disability Affairs) gave a statement on the commemoration of the international day for persons with disabilities, the day which is to be celebrated on 3rd December under the theme: not all disabilities are visible.

The honorable minister urged the legislators to participate in the district commemorations and to always interact with people with disabilities to better understand their concerns.

The deputy speaker tasked the ministry to put in place inclusive and responsive policies to help people with disabilities.
