The Rubanda District Woman Member of Parliament Aspirant, Jacqueline Katabazi, has advised parents and guardians to keep their children occupied and prevent them from wandering aimlessly in order to avoid the potential dangers of allowing children excessive free time during the extended holiday period.
Mrs. Katabazi made this call during the Thanksgiving mass service for all women at St. Charles Lwanga Kitojo Catholic Church in Bubare Sub County, Rubanda District.
She urged them to closely supervise these children during the extended holiday period to prevent their involvement in undesirable groups.
“I call on parents to seize this extended holiday as an opportunity to guide their children in reading and distance them from negative influences such as bad groups and excessive use of social media,” Mrs. Katabazi said.
She thanked the women of St. Charles Lwanga for inviting her to their Thanksgiving celebration and promised to provide ongoing support and visits whenever needed.
Mrs. Katabazi contributed one million shillings towards the Thanksgiving ceremony to the women of St. Charles Lwanga Kitojo Catholic Church as a demonstration of her commitment to the community.
Mrs. Katabazi later travelled to Muko Archdeaconry to witness the installation of Ven. Nkwasibwe Ernest as the new Archdeacon. The event was presided over by Rt. Rev. Gaddie Akanjuna, the Bishop of the Diocese of Kigezi. Mrs. Katabazi gave 500,000 Uganda Shillings for Revival Radio and 50 bags of cement for the new church’s construction.
