The territorial police in the Karamonja sub-region, in conjunction with the Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF), have arrested three prime suspects involved in the murder of civilians in the areas of Kamioni, Timu, Kaabong, and other neighboring districts.
According to the UPDF’s 3rd Division Public Information Officer, Major Isaac Oware, the trio in custody include Aleu Lomeri, a resident of Kaitach village; Kamol Longole, a resident of Moruedikae village, all from Kaabong district; and Lukwakori Bosco, a resident of Mamulope Kotido district, who was arrested while in possession of an illegal firearm.
Maj Oware made the statement on July 25, 2024, at the UPDF 3rd Division headquarters in Moroto district.
Oware said that the three suspects, who have been terrorizing people in the Karamonja sub-region, are currently in custody at 3rd Division headquarters at Moroto Army barracks for further investigation and possible prosecution.
“Upon completion of the investigation, the suspects will be charged with murder and robbery, among others,” he said.
Oware assured residents of the Karamoja sub-region that the joint security forces remain committed to apprehending all criminal elements, recovering stolen livestock, and securing roads in order to maintain peace and security.
