Kampala Capital City Authority Football Club (KCCA FC) and Kampala Queens Football Club, the champions of the Super League, entered into partnership on June 20th for a period of three years with effect from 1st, July, 2023.

This partnership will see Kampala Queens become the KCCA women’s football team.

This move was instigated by a Confederation of African Football (CAF) requirement that every club taking part in its men’s competition should be associated with or own a women’s team.

According to Anisha Muhoozi, the CEO of KCCA FC, every football club is meant to have its own female team, which is the strategic direction set by FIFA.

“So, we know that this is something only a minute; in the future, we ought to have a team, and yes, this is a short term; that is why our partnership is for only three years, and the understanding is that in three years we should have gotten technical expertise and knowledge from Kampala Queens, established ourselves, and have our own female team as KCCA FC,” she said.

Muhoozi said that Kampala Queens FC was the best choice for the club because there is similarity between the name, location, affiliation, and strategic level of the club.

She explained that the partnership will give KCCA FC enough grace to start their own women’s team in three years’ time.

She added that the partnership is a good step towards gender equality in Ugandan football and strengthening the sport at all levels.

KCCA FC, which will represent the country in the CAF Confederation Cup next season, will become the first team in Uganda to fulfill this CAF mandate.
