Kampala District Land Board Chairperson arraigned in court for Fraud

The Anti Corruption Unit in partnership with Uganda Police has arraigned David Balondemu the Chairperson Kampala District Land Board before the court on charges of obtaining money by false pretence.

On October 20,2023 the Anti-Corruption Unit arraigned Balondemu before Kampala Capital City Authority chief Magistrates Court on charges of obtaining money by false pretense from a Korean investor.

“Balondemu and others accused defrauded a Korean USD 600,000 ( Ugx2.2billion) in a 53 kilogram gold scam,” said the Anti-Corruption Unit.

He has been remanded until November 6, 2023.

Gold scams are on the increase in Kampala. Between August and November 2021, a Korean investor was defrauded, over USD300,000 (Three hundred thousand dollars) in a 53kg gold scam in Kampala
