Uganda’s Civil Aviation Authority has recorded the largest number of international passengers at Entebbe International Airport from July 2023 to date, with a total of 185,253 passengers going through the airport.

According to Vianney Mpungu Luggya, the Civil Aviation Authority’s (CAA) Public Relations Manager, the overall number of international passengers includes 93,727 arrivals and 91,526 departures, for a total of 185,253 passengers, or an average of 5,975 daily.

“The July 2023 traffic reflects an addition of 24,338 passengers to those recorded in the previous months of June 2023, which had a total of 160,915 passengers,” Luggya said.

Luggya went on to say that it is greater than the 151,600 passengers recorded in July 2022, and the 166,000 passengers recorded in July 2019.

He also stated that 4,190 and 1,547 metric tonnes of cargo were registered in July 2023, for a total of 5,737 metric tonnes of cargo recorded in July 2023.

Entebbe International Airport has experienced a significant surge in passenger volume during a single month, marking the highest recorded figures since the aviation industry began its recovery from the profound impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic.
