Col Emmy Katabazi, the Deputy Director General of the Internal Security Organization (ISO), has urged the newly promoted officers of the organization to be professional in their line of work in order to ensure peace and stability in Uganda.

While at the Institute of Security and Intelligence Studies in Entebbe on July 26, 2024, where he was presiding over the peeping ceremony of 24 newly promoted officers by President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, Col Katabazi congratulated the officers upon their promotion and asked them to be professional while guarding and protecting Uganda.

“You are role models in the service. Your new ranks entail more responsibilities and engagements; endeavor to be professional and serve those under your command diligently and guard the revolution,” Col Katabazi said.

He noted that a country’s collapse means there’s a failure in intelligence. He, therefore, asked the officers to pay keen attention to the enemy subversive forces both internally and externally, saying that ISO has the capacity to counter such forces to ensure the sustainability of a peaceful Uganda.

Col Katabazi further warned those planning to disrupt Uganda’s peace that they would not succeed.

Regarding the officers’ request to consider the staff at the lower ranks going for further training courses, Col Katabazi said that he was in touch with the Commander of the Defence Forces (CDF), Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba, so that ISO can have tailor-made contemporary training that fits today’s dynamic world.

One of the representatives of the decorated officers applauded the leadership of ISO for giving them a platform to serve their country, which she said comes with huge responsibilities, adding that their promotion came with a lot of resilience and hard work.

The ceremony was also attended by ISO senior officers, family, friends, and relatives of the promoted officers.

On July 10, 2024, President Museveni promoted 898 and confirmed 20 Senior and Junior UPDF officers to the ranks of Brigadier General, Colonel, Lieutenant Colonel, Major, Captain, and Lieutenant.
