Rita Mutesi-Kabayiza, the Executive Director of Willis Towers Watson Insurance Brokers revealed that the Insurance Brokers Association of Uganda will address Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) factors affecting the business environment.

Kabayiza said that the ESG factors will be addressed at the sixth annual conference scheduled for April 17–19, 2024, at Mbale Resort Hotel, under the theme,’’ Adapting to the evolving business landscape.’’

She made these remarks on April 4 2024 while addressing journalists in Kampala on April 4, 2024.

Kabayiza revealed that the conference will address critical merging concerns such as environmental, social, and governance factors, artificial intelligence, geopolitical changes, and regulatory developments in the business environment.

’’I know the insurance sector is trying to incorporate environmental, social, and governance factors into their activities; however, more sensitization about this matter is still needed, hence the reason why this conference is discussing very unique aspects that we have not tackled in the past, and this is again in line with the theme of adapting to the evolving business landscape,’’ Kabayiza revealed.

Kabayiza added that this conference is going to help them learn more because never before have insurers had conversations around (ESG) environmental, social, and governance factors, conversations around AI, and conversations around geopolitical concerns. However, this is only the beginning, and it is going to help us handle matters that are not only affecting Uganda as a country but also, we are benchmarking from what is going on around the world.
