The leader of the Democratic Alliance (DA), a local political pressure group, MP Mathias Mpuuga, has confirmed that he is ready to kick Robert Kyagulanyi and his National Unity Platform Party from the opposition politics in 2026.
Mpuuga, who is also the former Leader of the Opposition in Parliament, said that Bobi Wine and the entire NUP group will, beginning in 2025, be facing rough political terrain as they embark on their mobilization.
During a media briefing on Monday, January 20, 2025, at their offices in Namirembe, Kampala, Mpuuga expressed unwavering confidence in his group’s readiness to field candidates against NUP at all levels, including the presidency.
He emphasized that the DA is committed to achieving “genuine political change” and criticized the NUP for what he described as a four-year distraction filled with internal disputes rather than focusing on democratic governance.
“The NUP has failed to oust President Museveni, effectively allowing him to remain in power. Bobi Wine and his cohorts concentrated on making personal wealth under the guise of removing a dictator,” Mpuuga said.
Mpuuga reiterated his determination to mobilize Ugandans to rise up against NUP, which he sees as the real enemy of Ugandans.
According to Mpuuga, NUP and Bobi Wine should gear up for a fierce battle aimed at reshaping Uganda’s political future.
