Government to Recruit 2,000 Teachers in Jan/Feb 2023

The Government of Uganda is set to recruit 2,000 teachers to fill the seed schools during the January/February 2023 window.

The Ministry Of Education spokesperson Dr. Denis Mugimba, said that new teachers will fill that current batch of opportunities opened up after 400 secondary school teachers retired last year.

“We are looking at about 2,000 teachers being recruited to fill seed schools, those who have retired, and the Local Governments that received wage for hire,” Mugimba said.

However, according to Mugimba, not all job applicants will be hired during the January/ February 2023 window.

“We have already ejected 600 forgeries and we’ll continue to be vigilant,” Mugimba stated.

A clean-up of the public secondary school payroll also removed 600 teachers with forged documents after Janet Museveni, the Education Minister, commissioned the verification exercise.

Dr. Asuman Lukwago, the Education Services Commission Permanent Secretary, warns those applying for teaching jobs to refrain from using underhanded methods to get on to the payroll.
