Lt. Col (Rtd) Kibrai Ambako, Head of Mobilization at the Resident District Commissioners (RDC) Secretariat and the State House Anti-Corruption Unit (SH-ACU), affirmed the government’s unwavering commitment to delivering services efficiently and effectively to all citizens as planned.
During a monitoring visit to Agago District on Saturday March 1, 2025, Ambako emphasized the importance of accountability and transparency in driving community development and improving livelihoods.
“We are here to ensure that government resources are used effectively to improve people’s lives,” he stated, highlighting the purpose of his visit: to assess the condition of schools, health centers, and the impact of the Parish Development Model (PDM) funds in the region.
His team’s presence on the ground is part of a broader effort to monitor and enhance the effectiveness of government initiatives aimed at poverty reduction and economic growth.
Ambako stressed that transparency and accountability are crucial for community development, emphasizing his role in mobilizing communities and ensuring that government programs are implemented efficiently.
His responsibilities as an RDC include overseeing the execution of initiatives like the PDM and ensuring that the benefits reach the intended recipients, especially in vulnerable regions like Karamoja.
The Parish Development Model (PDM) is a flagship government program designed to reduce poverty by promoting financial inclusion and local economic development.
Through this initiative, funds are allocated directly to parishes to support a range of development projects, including agriculture, education, and health services. Ambako’s oversight aims to prevent misuse of these funds and ensure that projects have a tangible impact on communities.
In addition to monitoring service delivery, Ambako emphasized the need for peace and security as foundational elements for sustainable development in regions like Karamoja, which have historically faced challenges related to insecurity and underdevelopment.
His efforts align with the government’s broader anti-corruption agenda, led by the State House Anti-Corruption Unit, which focuses on eliminating financial mismanagement and enhancing the accountability of public officials.
