Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF) logistics personnel have been warned to shun corruption and encouraged to emphasize the critical role in ensuring effective logistics management and operational excellence.

While opening a week-long retreat for logistics officers at the College of Logistics and Engineering in Magamaga, Jinja, on Monday, September 23, 2024, Maj. Gen. Jack Bakasumba, the Chief of Joint Staff, says the retreat will enhance ideological clarity, fostering cohesion, instilling discipline, promoting mindset change, and nurturing patriotism.

“I commended the UPDF for its progress, particularly in logistics, which serves as a cornerstone for bolstering capabilities and addressing challenges to develop a multi-dimensional force for future generations,” Bakasumba stated.

He acknowledged the countless conflicts facing Africa, underscoring the need for a robust logistics capacity to support various operations as required.

Brig Gen. Godwin Karugaba, Joint Staff Logistics, explained that the retreat aims to strengthen collaboration among logistics departments. He also highlighted the event as an opportunity to realign and rejuvenate logistics in accordance with the commander-in-chief’s directives on ideological clarity.
