The Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) is set to begin its electoral process for new leadership this Sunday, April 6, 2025, starting with elections for District Football Association executive committees across the country.
This announcement was made by FUFA Electoral Committee Chairperson, Bwire Matias, during a media briefing held at FUFA House in Mengo, Kampala.
He confirmed that all preparations are in place for a smooth and transparent start to the elections, which will culminate in the highly anticipated National Elective Assembly on July 5, 2025.
“We issued nomination forms on March 25, 2025, and these were received, vetted, and verified between March 31 and April 1. Everything is set for elections to commence this Sunday,” Bwire said.
He emphasized that FUFA remains committed to upholding principles of transparency, inclusivity, and fair representation throughout the electoral process.
At the district level, five key positions will be contested. These include: Delegates to the Regional Football Association (RFA) with at least one slot reserved for a woman.
Three delegates to the RFA Players Association, where one position must also be held by a woman.
Bwire underscored the significance of ensuring representation from special interest groups, particularly women, as a critical element of FUFA’s evolving governance framework.
The district elections will set the stage for regional elections scheduled for Sunday, April 13, 2025, with results expected on the same day. The entire process will lead to the National Elective Assembly on July 5, where the new FUFA leadership will be officially elected.
This multi-stage electoral process is expected to reshape the landscape of football administration in Uganda, strengthening inclusivity and accountability within FUFA’s leadership structures.
It is seen as a key step in aligning football governance with the federation’s broader vision of professionalism, equity, and grassroots development.
