A joint security operation has busted a racket of unscrupulous fraudsters and foiled a million dollar attempt by these goons who have been posing as United Nations (UN) employees in Entebbe to con unsuspecting travelers and Citizens.

The three suspects who include Kirumira Henry aka Baluku Moses, Badru Kiyingi and Ochendi Moses are currently detained at CPS police cells in Entebbe.

Fraudsters were found with fake UN documents which they wanted to present to their victim whose names are withheld for security purposes and not to jeopardize investigations for a down payment of 50,000 dollars.

“They use several tricks to con their victims like using foreign telephone numbers claiming that they want to send money in Uganda in dollars as a consignment through the UN offices, but want assistance from the victim on clearance charges on which they would be given a commission.”A source said.

“They also use tricks like UN has brought a consignment of dollars which are said to have been coated or stamped with the “U.N initials in order to disguise their identity from the authorities.

The sample of the notes is shown to the victim, who is told that the black coating or stamps can be removed by washing it with a special compound liquid. The victim is asked to provide between US$50,000 and US$100,000 for bulk supplies of the cleaning compound, which the offender offers to procure from the same racket and their money cheated.

It came to light during interrogation that many people have fallen victims of the same type of scam by these individuals.”
