Former Kagadi Principal Human Resource Officer Convicted Over Ghost Teachers

The Anti-Corruption Court in Kololo has convicted the former Principal Human Resource Officer of Kagadi District Local Government for illegally including 60 teachers on the payroll. Godfrey Musinguzi was convicted yesterday, May 17, 2023.

In a case presided over by Justice Lawrence Giddudu, the Head of Anti-Corruption Court, Godfrey Musinguzi was sentenced to three years imprisonment at Luzira prisons.

Musinguzi was charged on account of causing a financial loss worth over Ugx 340M to the Government and misuse of Office among other charges.

He was also suspended from occupying any Public Office for 10 years.

According to James Khaukha, a staff in the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions, the government incurred a loss of Ugx 460M as a result of Musinguzi’s actions.

However, Justice Giddudu advised Musinguzi to file an appeal in one weeks’ time through his lawyers if he wishes to serve his sentence at a nearby prison of his choice.

His accomplice Bartholomew Bukenya, the District Education Officer, was acquitted of abuse of office.
