Dr. Aggrey Kiyingi, aka Nathan Span, is a Ugandan cardiologist currently practicing in Merrylands, Australia, who is alleged to have murdered his wife Robinah in 2005 in cold blood.

Dr. Kiyingi has also been working with the ADF rebels, and in 2015, Dr. Kiyingi was placed on a wanted list over the killing of at least seven people, including Muslim clerics and police officers.

Police linked the killings to the rebel group Allied Democratic Forces (ADF), which Dr. Kiyingi has been financing from Australia. In one of the major suspect’s notebooks was a telephone number that traced back to the estranged doctor.

According to the documents handed over to court by Ms. Anne Ntimba Kairu, the State Prosecutor, Dr. Kiyingi, through his Federal Alliance rebel group, recruited and offered logistical support to former ADF rebels. The state says the hired hitmen murdered the two clerics.
The DPP said he had proof that Dr. Kiyingi was exploiting the differences between Muslim groups to accomplish his mission. This he did, the documents say, to cause hatred against the NRM government with the aim of contesting for the presidency in 2016.

It is true that Dr. Kiyingi formed a rebel group known as the Federal Alliance in 2009. It’s also confirmed that in 2013, he contacted Sheikh Moody Bukenya and a one Hakim Kinene Muswaswa, both suspects in this case, to assist him in recruiting people and former ADF rebels for training and for purposes of engaging in terrorism activities in the city centre.

The State Department adds that in April 2014, the group travelled to Nairobi and Dar-es-Salaam, where they met with Dr. Kiyingi and discussed the modalities of committing terrorist attacks. The state says Dr. Kiyingi used to send money through Western Union to his sister-in-law, Ms. Aisha Nakasibante, also a suspect in the case.

In September 2020, Dr. Kiyingi sacked his party’s coordinator and mobilizer, who by then was also Makindye West MP Ibrahim Kasozi, accusing him of telling lies about his political party, the Uganda Federal Democratic Organisation.

and betrayal by allegedly talking to security agencies and revealing his party’s secrets.

The coordinator, who had been a confidant to the Australian-based doctor, had vowed to unleash the secrets of funding for the party, money he was supposed to give out in large sums to strangers even when he had never seen them at the party or known them as members of the party.

This didn’t go well with Ibrahim Kasozi, who was doing all the donkey work while huge sums were passing through him to facilitate people he didn’t know and suspected had bad intentions. Kasozi told police.

Kiyingi is still at large in Australia, and anytime he comes back to Uganda, he will be charged for his criminal activities.
