The FDC Katonga group including Elias Lukwago, the Lord Mayor of Kampala Capital City, vice party president, and Doreen Nyanjura, the Deputy Lord Mayor, among others, attempted to halt the ongoing FDC National Council meeting yesterday by hiring unknown goons who violently stormed the office premises at Najjanankumbi.

According to the video making rounds on social media platforms, Lukwago arrived with a crowd of goons holding placards displaying messages like ‘FDC is not for sale, among others.

In the video, the goons encompassed the blue gate to block whoever wanted access to the office premises while chanting ‘FDC is not for sale’.

“The party is under siege, you can see the whole environment, and the events here are inconsistent with the philosophy and values of the party. The environment is tense and hostile, everybody is on tenterhooks,” Lukwago said.

Shakira Nakalema, a party member approached Nyanjura accusing her of trying to elicit public sympathy by pretending to be stopped from reaching the office entry. Nakalema added that Nyanjura’s move was only intended to cause disruption and maintained that no one refused the individuals admission to the office.

“You are a lair, no one has denied you and Lukwago access to the party headquarters; all vehicles are supposed to be packed outside as per the directives, because there is limited space inside; now you come with a group of goons and start disorganizing the set directives, yet you have never appeared for any NEC meeting; you are a liar,” said Nakalema.

Meanwhile, some members attending the National Council have since demanded the resignation of Erias Lukwago, Doreen Nyanjura, and Ssemujju Nganda, accusing the trio of being self-seeking, something that has caused mayhem in the party.
