The opposition Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) party’s national youth league has encouraged young people to actively participate in the ongoing voter register update exercise.

Francis Adepo, the FDC Youth League chairperson, said Chairperson Adepo Francis was addressing the weekly presser at the party headquarters in Najjanankumbi on Monday, January 20, 2025.

Adepo said that as FDC they commend the flexible roadmap of the 2026 general elections and called upon all Ugandan youths to fully embrace it.

“These registers are going to be used in the national youth council structures, the special interest groups’ structures, and any youth who want to contest for any youth leadership position; this is the stage where we are supposed to start from,” Adepo added.

Sseruga Ibrahim, the deputy youth league chairperson for the central region, said that this is an opportunity for young people to contest for different leadership positions.

“Now is the time for young people to contest for different positions and ensure that we are not just being used. Let’s contest for all positions from local council to parliamentary positions,” Sseruga said.

The electoral commission kicked off the exercise to update the Voter Register on Monday, Jan 20th, and it will run until Jan 10th, Feb 2025.
