πΊπ¬ President Museveni urges traditional leaders to mobilise their people to work hard and get rid of poverty
πPresident Museveni has called upon traditional leaders to mobilise their subjects to work hard to get rid of poverty from their homes. In a speech read for him on Sunday by Prime Minister Rt Hon Robinah Nabbanja during the 29th coronation anniversary of Omukama of Bunyoro, Dr. Solomon Gafabusa Iguru, the President implored cultural institutions to sow the seeds of love, unity, discipline, sacrifice, hard work, integrity, and patriotism among the people. He warned cultural institutions to desist from causing ethnic tensions which cause the spirit of division that undermines development.
πΊπ¬ NRM still strong in Buganda, says Hon Kiwanda
πThe NRM vice chairperson for Buganda region, Hon. Godfrey Kiwanda Ssubi has dismissed claims that the ruling party does not have support among the people in Buganda region. Kiwanda clarified that the poor performance by some of its candidates in the last general elections was a result of internal differences among party members. He together with Deputy Secretary General, Hon. Namayanja Rose Nsereko and the National Treasurer, Barbrah Oundo Nekesa were interacting with NRM grassroot leaders from Busiro East in Wakiso District.
“What made us perform poorly in the last elections was divisions within our party where those who lost in the primaries didn’t support the party flag bearers,” he said, adding that βwhat wins an election is a strong candidate fully backed by all party members.β
Namayanja said that the NRMΒ Secretariat aims at working with the Government to ensure that people advance from subsistence production to a money economy through Government initiatives like the Parish Development Model and Emyooga.
πΊπ¬ President Museveni urges public to get fully vaccinated against COVID19
π President Museveni has urged members of the public to get fully vaccinated against Coronavirus disease and for the elderly, to get booster jabs. The PresidentΒ said this in his update to the public on his Covid situation where he revealed that with five days spent in self- isolation at the Nakasero State Lodge, he is now getting better. He said tests were done on him to ascertain his status but the results still came out positive.
“We shall wait for a few more days and check again. I remain in self-isolation at Nakaseroβ, President Museveni said.
πΊπ¬ Government commences rehabilitation of 41km Matugga-Kapeeka road
π The rehabilitation of the 41-kilometer highway stretching from Matuga through Semuto to Kapeeka in Nakaseke District is set to commence. TheΒ Minister of Works, Gen. Katumba Wamala on Monday said that the contract for the rehabilitation works has been handed to Abubaker Technical Services and General Supplies Ltd, a local contractor, at a cost of UGX 217 billion. Gen. Katumba said the road project is vital to local residents traversing Wakiso, Luweero, and Nakaseke Districts and will spur economic activities within the area.

πUganda Police has suspended thirteen police officers as investigations continue for their actions during a search at the residence of Sheikh Muhammad Yunus Kamoga. The Police spokesperson Fred Enanga ascertained to the Muslim community of their safety and stated that the force is not targeting their faith. Enanga confirmed that the officers whose method of work during the raid was ‘deemed unfit’, are facing the Police Professional Standards Unit over their actions and that investigations into the detention of the 45 youths found at the center are ongoing.
πΊπ¬ Police arrests Eritrean national for illegal possession of 80 passports
π The Uganda immigration office have arrested Ali Hassan Ali Khidah, an Eritrean Nationalist for illegal possession of 80 passports and Ugandan National Identity Cards. While addressing press on Monday at police headquarters, Simon Peter Mundeyi, theΒ spokesperson of the Ministry of Internal Affairs said that the national was arrested at Entebbe international airport and charged with a case of possessing documents which do not belong to him. He is suspected to be involved in criminal activities like human trafficking.

πCoffee Famers in Mpungu andΒ Nyamigaju cells in Kanungu District have applauded President Museveni for promoting value addition in coffee for export.Β Tugume Nelson Tugume, a coffee farmer said they can now produce coffee of high quality with potential to meet export standards.

πΊπ¬ KARENGA: Suspected cattle rustler killed, ammunition recovered
πJoint Security forces have shot dead a suspected armed cattle rustler in Karenga District. The incident took place in Lokel village, Kapedo Sub County on Sunday when the suspect was found driving five cows believed to have been stolen. Michael Longole, the Mt Moroto Regional Police Spokesperson said the security patrol team encountered the warrior, who was wearing a bed sheet and a shirt resembling a UPDF uniform at around 8:30 pm, raising suspicion. Security recovered an SMG rifle with 15 rounds of ammunition.
πΊπ¬ KASESE: Government gives ADF rebels brick-making machine for income generation
π The Government has given ex-rebels of the ADF in the Rwenzori region, a multi-million dollar hydrate machine. The machine was given to the ex-rebels through the Amnesty Commission to help raise their standards of living. Ronald Ssekatawa, the Western Coordinator of the Ex-Combatants stated that the equipment will be a game changer. According to Thomas Kisembo, a Commissioner at Amnesty International in charge of the Western Region, nearly 2000 beneficiaries from various districts in Rwenzori have been trained in the first and second stages.

π DRC: CODECO militants kill 40 in camp attack
π Officials in the Democratic Republic of Congo say at least 40 people have been killed in an attack by an armed group on a camp for the displaced.Β A local ethnic leader in the eastern Ituri province said the number of casualties could rise as many huts in the camp had been burned down and more bodies could lie in their charred remains.Β Mondayβs attack has been blamed on the CODECO militias, also responsible for an attack on Saturday in which seven people died.

π ETHIOPIA: Tigray and Amhara leaders meet in reconciliation move
π The leaders of Ethiopiaβs Amhara and Tigray regions have expressed a shared commitment to sort out their differences through dialogue. Amhara Regional Governor Yilkal Kefale and Tigrayβs interim leader, Getachew Reda, made the pledge during talks in Amharaβs capital, Bahir Dar.Β Getachew led a Tigrayan delegation to the Amhara region for the first time since a deadly civil war erupted in northern Ethiopia in November 2020. The two leaders said they would work towards re-opening road transport between Tigray and Amhara which offers the shortest route between Tigray and Addis Ababa.
