πŸ“ŒThe Uganda National Roads Authority (UNRA) has urged motorists on Masaka road to use alternative routes due to severe flooding at River Katonga.Β  Motorists from Kampala to Masaka have been diverted to use Mpigi- Kanoni-Maddu-Ssembabule-Masaka road and vice versa for those from Kampala as water levels subside.
β€œFor your safety, we strongly advise using alternative routes while we collaborate with UNRA to address the situation promptly,” Uganda Police tweeted.

πŸ“ŒThe Uganda National Bureau of Standards (UNBS) has warned fuel truck drivers against the continued vice of fuel adulteration which poses a danger to society. While speaking to fuel dealers at a fuel marking sensitization campaign organised by the Ministry of Energy and UNBS in Kampala on Wednesday, Peter Kitimbo, the UNBS field supervisor in charge of the fuel marking and quality monitoring program said that this act is mainly being carried out around places such as Naluwerere, Bugiri, and Busitema in Bugiri District when the fuel is in transit from Mombasa.
β€œThe driver’s branch off somewhere, they take off the good product and add in the bad product,” Kitimbo said.

πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡¬ SFC to lend hand to KCCA in fixing potholes in Kampala
πŸ“ŒKampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) has partnered with the Special Forces Command (SFC) to fix potholes within Kampala City. KCCA says they are due to receive modern specialised equipment from the Special Forces Command to facilitate the process. On Wednesday, Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba, the Presidential advisor on special operations and a team from KCCA, inspected potholes on Seventh Street. KCCA will work closely with the SFC Civil Works Department.

πŸ“ŒPolice in Kampala are searching for Augustine Sekajugo, a Dental Surgery student at Makerere University who has been missing for eight days. Senior Superintendent of Police Cyrus Omara confirmed Sekajugo’s disappearance although information regarding his whereabouts is still scanty. During an interview on Wednesday, Patrick Onyango, the Kampala Metropolitan police spokesperson appealed to Sekajugo to return to his room or contact his relatives and friends who are worried about him. The public has also been urged to share any information regarding Sekajugo’s whereabouts.

πŸ“ŒPassengers travelingΒ in a bus from Kigali to Kampala were on Wednesday evening shocked after a female passenger died in transit on Kabale-Mbarara road. The bus conductor was informed that a yet-to-be-identified female passenger had breathed her last. The bus driver was ordered by Police to park and together with the relative of the deceased went to the Police and made a statement. Samson Kasasira, the Rwizi region Police spokesperson, said he was waiting for further details from police detectives and a postmortem report to ascertain the cause of death.

🌍 President Museveni warns Sudan warring Generals to stop personalizing the country
πŸ“ŒPresident Museveni has renewed calls for a ceasefire in the ongoing conflict in Sudan, warning the Army against personalizing the country. President Museveni made the calls while he met the Special Envoy of the Chairman of the Transitional Sovereignty Council in Sudan, Amb. Dafallah Al-Haj Ali at State House Entebbe where the two discussed the conflict.
β€œA ceasefire is critical to allow peace, for people to elect their leaders as owners of the country. The country does not belong to the Sudan Army, it belongs to the people,” Museveni revealed in a tweet.

🌍 DRC: South Africa pledges support to end conflict in DR Congo
πŸ“ŒThe President of South Africa Cyril Ramaphosa has said that the conflict in eastern DRC must end and that South Africa stands ready to contribute to efforts to bring peace to the region. He made this revelation as he spoke Monday, May 8 in Namibia at the end of the Extraordinary Summit of the SADC Troika and the troop-contributing countries of the MONUSCO Intervention Brigade.
β€œWe condemn the activities of illegal armed groups and call on them and their sponsors to cease their activities immediately. The war has gone on for too long and we firmly believe that the people of the DRC deserve peace and development”, Cyril said.

πŸ“ŒFinance ministers across the East African Community (EAC) have scheduled a meeting to discuss and submit proposals on setting up a Central Bank of East Africa and single currency across the member states.
