πΊπ¬ Use commissioned electricity lines for economic development – Nabbanja
π Prime Minister Robinah Nabbanja has commissioned two new feeder lines and urged locals to use the extended power lines for productive purposes so as to promote economic development. The feeders commissioned include Kyeizooba feeder in Bushenyi District, with 13 transformers of 17.9 km of medium voltage and 67.4km of low voltage, and Malinde feeder in Buhweju District with capacity of 57.6 km of low voltage, 28km of medium voltage and 15 transformers. Nabbanja presided over the function at Bihanga church where she also commissioned operations of for Kilembe investment limited (KIL) power line and the electricity power supplier.
πΊπ¬ Speaker Among wants Government to create disaster management commission
πThe speaker of Parliament, Hon. Anita Among wants Government to set up a commission to manage responses disasters and emergencies in the country. The call comes at a time floods and mudslides have hit parts of Rwenzori and KigeziΒ claiming 16 lives. Among said the disaster preparedness and management committee is provided for under Article 249 of the 1995 Constitution.
πΊπ¬ MOROTO: Health workers worried by rising skin infections in Nadunget Sub County
π The cases of skin infection mostly among children are on rise in Moroto District, with several recorded cases at Nandunget Health Centre III. The infection causes skin itching, swelling and developing pus. The In-charge Nandunget Health Centre III says that locals mostly use local herbs which worsens the situation, and appealed to the Ministry of Health to take a special interest and provide the medicines to treat the infection before the situation gets out of hands.

πThe police in Kayunga District are investigating circumstances under which a Busaana Sub-county councilor was hacked to death by unknown assailants. The Police officer in-charge of criminal investigations department, Beatrice Ajwang said that George Samanyaβs body was found by residents lying in a pool of blood on Thursday morning in his retail shop in Wanteete village, Busaana Sub-county, Kayunga District. Samanya has been the male councilor representing people with disabilities.
πΊπ¬ BUDAKA: Lightning kills two pupils
πTwo pupils of Iki-Iki Integrated Primary school were confirmed dead after lightening struck them on Thursday, leaving one seriously injured. The incident happened during the afternoon rains in Bulyampiti village, Kaitagole parish, Iki-Iki Town Council in Budaka District. According the Budaka Deputy Resident District Commissioner, Ibrahim Mukamba, the dead have been identified as Silvester Kirya Kawiso, 10 a son of Amos Kawiso Kojjo, and Joshua Kyoki, 14, son of Jackson Eridadi. The injured pupil was identified as Eric Mboko, son of Mr Micheal Mboko, of the same village. The incident took place during a drizzle as the three pupils were playing at a borehole.

π US imposes sanctions on Sudanese warring Generals
πThe US Government Thursday imposed sanctions on Sudanβs warring Generals, declaring that the violence since April 15 constitutes an “unusual and extraordinary threat to the national security and foreign policy of the United States”. The sanctions are the first US response to Sudanese warring sides, the Sudan Armed Forces (SAF) and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), previous allies in toppling former leader Omar al-Bashir who have since refused to transition to a civilian-led Government.
π SOMALIA: Army commended as Govt reports 70% decrease in al-Shaabab attacks
πSomali Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre while chairing the weekly cabinet meeting in Mogadishu on Thursday announced that there had been a 70% reduction in Al Shabab attacks in the country. He said Government had succeeded in stabilizing the capital during the last holy month of Ramadan. The Council commended the security forces for their increased anti-al Shabab operations.

πRegional leaders will this weekend gather in the Burundian capital Bujumbura to attend the 11th High Level Segment of the Regional Oversight Mechanism (ROM) of the Peace, Security and Cooperation (PSC) Framework for the Democratic Republic of Congo and the Great Lakes Region. ROMβs key mandate is to end the recurring cycles of devastating conflict in eastern DRC which affects stability and development in the Great Lakes region. The Summit is expected to deliberate on the deployment of East African Community (EAC) troops and their role in dealing with negative forces in the eastern DRC includingΒ theΒ M23.
