🇺🇬 Court grants Karamoja Minister Kitutu, brother Shs10M bail
The Minister for Karamoja Affairs, Mary Gorreti Kitutu Kimono has been granted bail by the Anti-Corruption Court sitting in Kololo, Kampala. The Minister who also doubles as the Woman MP for Manafwa District presented five sureties to Court including Gidudu Mafabi Dominic, the Minister of State for Elderly people, Hon. Wakholi Godfrey, MP Bukiru County in Manafwa District and Hon. Christopher Werike, MP for Bubulo County West in Manafwa District among others. She has been released on a cash bail of Shs10 Million and her sureties were ordered to execute a non-cash bond of Shs200 Million each. Kitutu was also ordered to deposit her two land titles on Block 241, plots 1265 and 1264 situated in Wakiso District before Court as security to ensure her return whenever required while her brother Michael Kitutu Naboya was released on a cash bail of Shs3 Million. The duo returns to Court on April 27, 2023 for mention of their case.

🇺🇬 Health Ministry worried over incomplete HPV vaccine dose among girls
📌The Ministry of Health has expressed concern that a number of girls do not return for their second dose of Human Papilloma-virus or HPV Vaccine. Dr. Richard Kabanda, the Commissioner of Health Promotion, Education and Communication says this calls for innovative approaches to engage the public and ensure that the girls receive the full benefit of the vaccine.

🇺🇬  EC requires  Shs60.8Bn for village elections next year
📌The Electoral Commission (EC) wants the Parliamentary Committee to allocate Shs60.8 Bn in the next financial year budget (2023/2024) to organize the postponed election of LC 1 and LC 2 chairpersons. The chairperson of the Electoral Commission, Simon Byabakama Mugenyi, wants the funds to be provided in the first quarter for smooth preparations. He was Thursday appearing before the parliamentary committee on legal affairs.

🇺🇬  RUKUNGIRI: Witchdoctor sentenced  to 40 years in prison over sacrificing friend
📌High Court in Rukungiri District has sentenced a traditional witch doctor  to 40 years in prison over murdering and sacrificing his closest friend identified as Suleiman Mutabazi. Mugisha was convicted on his own plea of guilty after confessing before Court that his gods had asked him body parts. His wife and one of the children were also imprisoned over the same offence. Justice Tom Chemutei heard that on April 20, 2022, Suleiman Mugisha called his friend Mutabazi at Bwambara Trading Centre to his home in Rwenshama and he disappeared until his body with missing parts was found lifeless in sacks near Lake Edward in Rweshama fishing village.

🇺🇬 KAPCHORWA: Government to give Sipi Falls face lift
📌The Ministry of Tourism has embarked on improving the standards at Sipi falls in Sipi Town Council, Tingye county. Joses Chemonges, the District Tourism Officer says the areas to be uplifted include signages, trails and access roads. Sipi Falls is one of the most visited tourist destinations in Uganda.
“After the uplift we want to regulate the pricing including the entry fees, hospitality and tour-guide charges which have been inconsistent,”  said Chemonges.

🇺🇬 BUKEDEA: Minister Aceng assesses service delivery at Kangole Health Centre III
📌The Minister of Health Hon. Dr. Ruth Aceng has visited several health centers in Bukedea District including Kangole Health Centre III. Her visit was intended to assess the status of health service delivery, identify and bridge gaps to improve relations with the communities. During the visit,  Aceng was accompanied by the Director General Health Services Dr. Henry Mwebasa and among other health officials.

🇺🇬 MITOOMA: PDM beneficiaries receive revolving funds
📌Parish Development Model (PDM) beneficiaries in different SACCOs in Bukungu, Furuma and Bukongoro have received parish revolving funds to boost their businesses.
“As members of different PDM SACCOs in Mutara town council community, we are very excited after our dream turning into a reality,” said Mbabazi one of the beneficiaries said. The District Commercial Officer David Byamukama has urged groups that have not yet received the money to fulfill all the necessary requirements to benefit from PDM money.

🇺🇬  KOTIDO: UPDF kills notorious cattle rustler
📌Uganda Peoples Defense Forces Thursday killed a notorious cattle rustler, one Longok Lopustom who has been on the Army’s wanted list for a long-time.  Maj Isaac Oware, Mt. Moroto UPDF 3rd Division Spokesperson said that the army responded after the residents reported Lopus to be in the vicinity. Lopus was gunned down in a long fire exchange with the UPDF soldiers in Panyangara sub county, Kotido District.

🇺🇬  SOROTI: Oxygen plant and CT scan installation at Soroti Hospital in final-stages
📌The oxygen plant, laboratory, and imaging department at the Soroti Regional Referral Hospital, especially the Computed Tomography (CT) scan, is in its final stages of installation. The Minister of Health, Dr. Jane Ruth Aceng, who is in the Teso region for her routine support supervision said that this world class equipment will upgrade service at the hospital.

🇺🇬 HOIMA: 40 year old man commits suicide in church toilet
📌Residents of Hoima City on Thursday woke up in shock after a 40 year man identified as Daniel Rusoke, son to Sarah Byangire Amooti committed suicide in the latrine of Lifeline Ministries Church in Kiganda middle cell. The Albertine Region Police Spokesperson, Julius Hakiza confirmed the incident and said that investigations are ongoing to ascertain why Rusoke had to take his life in a such way.

🇺🇬 HOIMA: City risks running out of drinking water
📌Hoima City is at risk of running out of safe drinking water due to its increasing population, caused by the oil activities that have seen many of the locals deplete wetlands used to abstract water by the National Water & Sewerage Corporation. According to NWSC, its production capacity has dropped from 2.5 million liters per day to 1.5 million liters, yet the city needs 6-7 million liters daily.

🌍  KENYA: Raila announces resumption of nationwide protests after Ramadhan Season
📌Azimio La Umoja Coalition Party Leader Raila Odinga has said the anti-Government protests that he called off earlier this month will resume in a week’s time. Speaking on Thursday during a town hall meeting at Ufungamano House in Nairobi, Odinga said he will announce the date for the resumption of the protests after the end of the Ramadhan season. He said the protests will take place concurrently with the bipartisan engagement with the Government.

🌍  KENYA: Four Die in Kenya as they fast to ‘meet Jesus’
📌Four people were on Thursday found dead and nearly a dozen others hospitalised in Kenya’s coastal Kilifi county, after being rescued as they waited for the imminent end of the world.  Police say the group of 11 people, six of them wasted and in critical condition was found in a forest where they had been living for several days after being told by a local preacher to fast while “waiting to meet Jesus”.

🌍  DRC: President Tshisekedi rules out talks with M23 rebels
📌The President of Democratic Republic of Congo Felix Tshisekedi has ruled out political negotiations with the M23 rebel group. President Félix Tshisekedi said according to the agreement, the M23 rebels are mandated to demobilise before returning to civilian life. Obsevers say with the President ruling out Talks with the rebels, the peace process could stumble.
