πΊπ¬ Meteorologists warn of potential water-borne disease outbreak as rains beginΒ
πThe Uganda National Meteorological Authority has warned of a potential increase in water-borne diseases like bilharzia, malaria, cholera and dysentery among others as the rainy season sets in. George William Omony, Director of Applied Meteorology at UNMA says a spike in water-related diseases is expected with the onset of the rainy season that may stretch up to May.
πΊπ¬ Namisindwa residents vandalise NW&SC pipes, divert water to their onion gardens
πNational Water and Sewerage Corporation has faulted the two sub counties of Bumbo and Bukokho in Namisindwa District forΒ high levels of pipe vandalism. Halima Mukhwana, the Manafwa and Namisindwa Districts branch manager, says people from these two sub counties have cut most of the pipes in their areas and diverted water into their onion gardens for irrigation. This has brought water scarcity in the district since most of the pipes which supply water from the source of water have been cut.

πPolice in Bushenyi District has arrested Darius Ashaba-Aheebwa, 28 and Brian Mugarura, 23, both security guards working with Ruhaama Veterans Uganda LTD (RVU) for shooting a primary teacher dead. Marcial Tumusiime, the Greater Bushenyi Police spokesperson identified the deceased as Muramira Onan, 47, a resident of Nyakabingo 1 cell, Rushinya parish, Kakanju sub county in Bushenyi District. Muramira was shot dead after an argument with the security guards at Katungu filling station located in Bugomora cell, Ward 3, Ishaka Division.

πKamuli District experienced heavy rains that destroyed 20 houses, 2 private schools and gardens. According to the residents, the heavy rains destroyed houses, crops in areas of Kakunyu parish in the villages of Bulubandi, Bulamuka and Budhugu Busige in Kakunyu parish in Kisozi Sub Country. The area Police confirmed the incident and said investigations are ongoing to find out whether any lives were lost during the heavy rains.
