π The Ugandan Government and leaders of Eritreans living in the country have resolved to set up an information centre that will provide vital business knowledge to Eritrean investors. During the Eritrean Diaspora investment conference organised by the Presidentβs Office in charge of Diaspora Affairs in Kampala themed βAnchoring Eritrean investment into a vibrant Uganda,β the third Deputy Premier, Lukia Nakadama commended Ambassador AbbeyΒ Walusimbi for the initiative and carrying forward President Museveniβs vision of making Uganda an investment hub.
πΊπ¬ Seventh Day Adventist Women attribute high poverty rates to menΒ
π The leaders of Seventh Day Adventist women in East Buganda have say that men are the reason there are high poverty rates they are facing. After a church service, women cited that men refuse their wives to work even when they are highly educated and in turn do not even provide a conducive environment for them to live in. The women say that when a woman decides to work, the man leaves all the responsibilities for her to deal with, like paying school fees and taking care of the home, derailing her growth.

Ruth Nankabirwa has warned Christians against accepting aid from European countries as it is one disguised way they employ to get closer to the country’s minerals. Nankabirwa was giving a speech during a church service. Minister Nankabirwa said this Aid comes with conditions that in no time strike.
πΊπ¬ Police scraps marriage restrictions for female officersΒ
π As Uganda joins the rest of the world to celebrate womenβs Day on March 08, Female police officers have a reason to smile following the scrapping of marriage restrictions. The officers have also been directed to notify their superiors once pregnant so that they are assigned lighter duties. Joyce Ayebale, an Assistant Inspector of Police says that following a review of the Policeβs Gender Policy to promote gender equity, the move will attract more women who inspire school-going girls to join the Force.
πΊπ¬ Bundibugyo Head Teacher arrested over misuse of UPE fundsΒ
π Kiyamba Zedekiah, the Headteacher of Hakitengya P/S in Bundibugyo District, Rwenzori sub region has been arrested over misuse of Universal Primary Education funds. The Office of the National Chairman (ONC) coordinator in Rwenzori Sub-Region, Mr. Kyalimpa Ausen say that a Security team comprising of the DISO, CIID and RDC conducted monitoring on more than 10 schools to assess the use of the quarterly UPE funds. Of the schools monitored was Hakitengya P/S where it was found that of the Ugx6,320,000 received, there was no accountability as most of the documents presented were forged.
πΊπ¬ UEDCL registers 9% Shs 800BnΒ increase in revenue
π State-owned Uganda Electricity Distribution Company Limited has reported a 9% increase in revenues to Shs80.1bn for the period that ended June 2022. There was an increase in operational efficiency and increased customer connections. UEDCL Managing Director, Paul Mwesigwa said the companyβs operating expenses decreased by 3.8% to Shs60.9bn during the same period under review owed to low pole sales. Mwesigwa says the Earnings Before Interest Tax Depreciation and Amortization (EBITDA) increased from Shs10.4bn to Shs19.2bn.

π Residents of Chesower subcounty led by their area LC II chairperson Tyole Stephen accuseΒ Elgon Hydro Power Company for delayed compensation. Residents from the two villages of Chemuron and Bisho Parish say they have tried all means to demand for their pay for the electric poles that were erected in their land but invain. The affected people include Dison Moses, Stephen Malinga, Satya Nelson, Kwemoi Josea, Chelangat Silas, Kissa Alfred and Jackline chekwejer.
πΊπ¬ BUDAKA: Residents of Iki-Iki TC recieves mosquito netsΒ
π Ministry of Health in partnership with National Medical Stores delivered over 187 bales of mosquito nets to residents of Iki-iki Town Council. According to the District Health Officials, the received mosquito nets will be distributed to Kaitangole Ward 106, Petete Ward 50 and Iki-Iki ward 31 respectively. A one Felix, the LC III chairperson cautioned residents against misusing the mosquito nets so to enable government achieve its objective of zero tolerance to malaria outbreaks in the country.

π The Member of Parliament for Buikwe Hon. Lulume Bayiga has asked school heads in his constituency to put emphasis on sports activities in the schools for the students to be able to build enough strength to fight and prevent disease. Bayiga says there is an increase in lifestyle diseases like High Blood Pressure, Diabetes and Clots which affect people who sit long. He urges schools to be active in sports and prevent these non-communicable diseases in the young ones.

πDeputy President Rigathi Gachagua has threatened to reveal the names of individuals who allegedly stole money from public coffers in the last three months of former President Uhuruβs regime. According to DP Gachagua, a number of former ministers and Principal Secretaries (PSs) were receiving money packaged in sacks at their homes using planes from the Wilson Airport. Speaking during a thanksgiving service at Jesus Winner Ministry in Roysambu on Sunday, Gachagua said that in the coming days, he will be unmasking the individuals behind his alleged sentiments.

π BURKINA FASO: Curfews imposed to help fight JihadistsΒ
πBurkina Faso has put the North and parts of the Centre East region under curfew to aid the fight against jihadists. The long-running insurgency in the impoverished Sahel nation has left thousands of civilians, police and soldiers dead and forced more than two million people to flee their homes.
βIn the framework of the fight against terrorism, a curfew is established from 22:00pm to 05:00am across all the regional territory from Friday March 3 to Friday 31 March,β said a note from the secretary general of the governorate for the North.

πSouth African President Cyril Ramaphosa is expected to announce changes to his Cabinet,Β his spokesperson Vincent Magwenya said on Sunday. The changes were widely expected after Ramaphosa was re-elected as leader of the ruling African National Congress (ANC) party in December. It paved the way for him to seek a second Presidential term in elections scheduled for next year. He is expected to name a new Deputy President following the resignation ofΒ DavidΒ Mabuza.
