πΊπ¬ DP hails President Museveni for functional and independent Judiciary
πOpposition party Democratic Party (DP) has hailed President Museveni for setting up a functional and independent Judiciary in Uganda. This comes just a day when two legislators of National Unity Platform (NUP),Β Muhammad Ssegirinya (Kawempe North) and Allan Ssewanyana (Makindye West) were granted bail at Masaka High Court. While addressing the media on Tuesday,Β DP spokesman Fred Mwesigwa said that they welcome the news of the release of the two legislators which shows that there is fairness and justice in Uganda.
βAs DP, we want to applaud President Museveni and the Judiciary for practicing rule of law and following the constitution of Uganda”, he said.
πΊπ¬ Internal Affairs Ministry cautions public against ‘passport brokers’
πTheΒ Ministry of Internal Affairs has warned the public that they do not work with brokers. Jacob Siminyu, the Ministry spokesperson said thatΒ brokers have opened up offices at Dewinton Street, Nasser, and Nkurumah Roads after being chased out of Internal Affairs premises. Simiyu said all services with the immigration department are easy to access and the procedures are very clear for one to use.

πΊπ¬ Police arrests two private security guards for extortimg money at illegal roadblock
πPolice in Mbale City are holding two security guards attached to Stand-by Security Uganda, a Company guarding Water Pump Mosque in Dokho, Industrial City Division in Mbale City. The suspects are identified as Andrew Okello and Albert Omageni all residents of Nasenyi cell, Dokho ward, Industrial City Division in Mbale City. According to Rogers Taitika, the Elgon Regional Police Spokesperson, the two suspects staged an illegal road block on Monday at Dokho and extorted money from bodaboda riders, passengers and drivers claiming to be traffic police officers on an operation. People in the area tipped off Police who rushed to the scene and arrested the suspects who are currently detained at Malukhu Police Post.

πKatwe Police has arrested 5 suspects following the recovery of a car which was reported missing on Saturday February 11, 2023.The arrested individuals are Nabada Agatha, Nyenje Lawrence, Kaweesa Moses, Bukenya Charles, and Senyonga Shaban. 3 of these were aboard the car at the time of tracking and recovery while the other 2 are linked to the theft. In a statement by KMP spokesperson Luke Owoyesigire, the recovery was aided by a tracking device installed in the vehicle which eased its locationΒ in Kasangati Division in Lutete Zone.

πThe academia, staff, and students of the Masaka-based Equator University Science and Technology (EQUSaT) are mourning the death of their Vice Chancellor Prof Frederick Banvu Nozmo Mukiibi who passed on at Masaka Regional Referral Hospital on Sunday evening. According to Mr. Shaban Lukoya, the University Communication Officer, Prof. Mukiibi, 81, succumbed to a blood clot that blocked the blood vessels and eventually led to a heart attack.
