πΊπ¬ MUBENDE: 23 passengers injured in Link Bus accident
π23 people have been injured in a bus accident in Mubende District. The accident involving a Link Bus lost control and overturned at Gwanika along the Fort Portal-Kampala highway. The bus heading to Kampala was coming from Bwera in Kasese District. Amos Atamba, a traffic police officer at Mubende police station, says that the accident could have been caused by smoke from a plywood factory in Nabbingola.

π Bishops call for arrest of South Sudan attackers
πCatholic Bishops in South Sudan are urging the Government to arrest and bring to justice the attackers who killed civilians on the eve of the historic visit of the Pope and two other top clerics. Suspected cattle herders from Jonglei state killed at least 21 civilians in Kajo-Keji county in Central Equatoria state on Thursday. Among those killed were four volunteers from the South Sudan Red Cross Society.
π Ghanaian International Christian Atsu rescued from wreckage with injuries after earthquake
π Ghanaian Footballer Christian Atsu has been pulled from the rubble of a building with injuries after the earthquake in Turkey, his clubβs vice-president Mustafa Γzat said in media. Atsu, who plays for Hatayspor, was trapped in debris after the earthquake that killed at least 4,800 people.
π MALI: Russian foreign minister arrives in the country to strengthen ties
πRussian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov has arrived in Mali for talks with the military leadership of the country. The Russian minister is expected to hold talks with the countryβs interim President, Assimi GoΓ―ta and the foreign affairs minister. Russian media said the two sides will discuss issues of co-operation including military ties and the shipment of Russian grain, fertiliser and oil products to Mali.

πThe President of Turkey has declared seven days of National Mourning after an earthquake toppled buildings across southeast Turkey. Turkish Vice President Fuat Oktay said on Tuesday that the death toll from the earthquakes in Turkey had risen to 3,419. Meanwhile, Syria has appealed to the United Nations for help following devastating earthquakes that killed more than 5,000 people in the north east.
