Ex-Minister Atubo’s bitterness against President Museveni: “A dog barking at an elephant.”

On Friday, November 11, 2022, a faded politician, lawyer, and former two-term minister, Daniel Omara Atubo, was reported to have said, during a workshop, that he will oppose President Museveni (not the NRM) until his last day.

The former Lands Minister, now a political spent force, who once represented Otuke County, has given himself the assignment of calling on morning radio talk shows in Lango and writing on social media about his bitterness and frustrations with President Museveni for dropping him from his juicy cabinet position.

The former legislator was sent packing both from Parliament and the Cabinet when he was beaten by the UPC’s Father Jacinta Ogwal, and the last nail on his proverbial coffin was sealed by the grand entrance to the political scene of Otuke by MP Julius Acon, the famous athlete.

Sensing that his political fortunes have dwindled drastically and failing to emulate eminent former legislators like the Hon. Ben Wacha, the wonderfully whiskered lawyer, has become a keyboard warrior, unbecomingly.

Having no political base and lacking solutions to the significant problems of the citizens, one can easily predict how Atubo’s one-man war against President Museveni will end: in tears!

Two days ago, hundreds of enthusiastic NRM leaders across the Lango sub-region endorsed President Museveni for re-election in 2026.

The president doesn’t need to campaign in Lango in 2026. His handiwork does that job for him. The mega-infrastructure projects, including the reconstruction of the infamous Lira-Kamdini road, are making significant progress.

It is also clear that the former Minister seems to be glued to a trick of using bitterness against H.E. President Yoweri Museveni to pull him closer for personal benefit.

But I see him failing to bury his political casket and thus continuing to receive his dose of heartache from some of us.

Hon. Elder Omara Atubo’s days are gone.

I don’t envy the job of those opposed to President Museveni.
