Evelyn Lagu, a renowned Ugandan artist and actress, sadly passed away on Monday, September 18, 2023, following a prolonged struggle with multiple chronic complications.

Evelyn has passed away due to complications with her kidneys and heart. Her son, Freddie Kasavu, confirmed the news of her passing, which was also announced through her social media accounts.

She has been experiencing poor health for approximately five years, frequently requiring hospitalisation.

In February 2021, a group of well-wishers and music lovers came together to raise UGX 61 million through a car wash drive. The purpose of this initiative was to assist in covering the costs of a kidney transplant in Turkey, with the ultimate goal of saving her life.

She was transported to Turkey for a kidney transplant, but the procedure did not occur due to the expert doctors’ recommendation that her health condition was not suitable for the operation.

In June 2022, Lagu’s concert, dubbed ” An Evening with Evelyn Dinner Concert” which was supposed to take place at the Muganzi Lwazza Rooftop in Katwe, was cancelled by police. Upon receiving the news of the concert’s cancellation, the singer experienced a sudden collapse and was promptly transported to a nearby hospital.

According to reports, she tragically passed away at home shortly after undergoing dialysis treatment. She took a final deep breath before passing away instantaneously.

At her passing, Evelyn Love has been promoting her charity concert, dubbed “Evelyn Love Charity Concert,” which was meant to take place at Papaz Spot in Makindye on October 28, 2023.
