EU Special Envoy Lauds UPDF for Maintaining Regional Peace

The European Union Special Envoy for the Great Lakes Region, Ambassador John Borgstam, has praised the Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF) for their vital role in maintaining stability in the region and acknowledged their efforts in promoting peace and security.

Ambassador Borgstam made the remarks on November 8, 2024, while meeting with Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba, the Chief of Defence Forces (CDF), at the Special Forces Command headquarters in Entebbe.

During the meeting, the leaders discussed regional security, the progress of Operation Shujaa, and the future EU-Uganda cooperation.

The EU Special Representative expressed strong admiration for the UPDF and pledged to work with the army for strong relations between the EU and Uganda.

The meeting was also attended by Ambassador Jan Sadek, Head of the EU Delegation to Uganda, and his deputy Guillaume Chartrain.
