Embattled Minister Nandutu’s Trial Postponed Again

The state minister for Karamoja affairs Agnes Nandutu.

Justice Jane Okuo Kajuga of the Anti-Corruption Court today, June 8, 2023, postponed Agnes Nandutu’s trial in a case accusing her of improperly diverting iron sheets intended for Karamoja until June 16.

Today’s trial was postponed after Nandutu’s attorney, Caleb Alaka, informed the judge that one of the defense team’s attorneys was ill despite the presence of all four of them.

The defense team was not prepared to move forward, according to her four attorneys, Caleb Alaka, Ochienge Evans, Charles Wamukota, and Nalera John, who were all present in court on Thursday.

On two occasions, the prosecution presented witnesses who were prepared to testify but were compelled to agree to a brief adjournment on the grounds that ill health cannot be forecast.

The Lady Judge granted the adjournment but ordered the defense team to prepare for the next session, slated for June 16, 2023.
