The Electoral Commission has nominated four candidates including Mukankwaya Salim Tana, the girlfriend of the leader of the National Unity Platform Party, Robert Kyagulanyi, aka Bobi Wine.

Other candidates are Akifeza Grace Ngabirano (Independent), Juliet Musanase (FDC), and Rose Kabagyenyi, the NRM candidate.

The Commission has designated November 14th, 2024, as the day when voters in Kisoro will be electing the area Woman Member of Parliament.

Kyagulanyi is currently battling a stiff dispute from a section of NUP leaders who are opposed to his decision to front his partner Tana as the party flagbearer without consultation.

Tana was accompanied by her lover’s close buddies, including NUP SG David Rubongoya and MP Francis Zaake.

Her nomination comes despite unanswered questions within the NUP party regarding her endorsement and disrespect of the party systems as well as her intentions in the party.

Tana previously contested for the same position both in 2016 and 2021 in the NRM primaries but lost due to her weak mobilization strategies.
