Bobi Wine’s girlfriend (bonkmate) Sultana Tana from the National Unity Platform (NUP), Musanase Juliet from the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC), and Rose Kabagyeni representing the National Resistance Movement (NRM) are to be nominated within the two days.

Justice Simon Mugenyi Byabakama, the chairperson of the Election Commission, said that all persons aspiring to contest in the by-elections are urged to familiarize themselves with the requirements for nomination for each of the above elective positions, as outlined in the guidelines issued by the Electoral Commission.

“Candidates interested in participating can collect the necessary nomination forms and guidelines from the Office of the District Election Administrator in Kisoro District,” Mugenyi said.

He further said that the nomination exercise will be conducted at the District Council Hall, Kisoro District, starting at 9:00 am until 5:00 pm on the stated dates.

Mugenyi further stressed the importance of adherence to the outlined procedures to ensure a smooth nomination process.

“The commission remains committed to facilitating a transparent and fair election process, aiming to empower the citizens of Kisoro District through effective representation in Parliament,” Mugenyi added.

As the nomination period unfolds, voters are encouraged to stay informed and participate actively in the upcoming electoral activities, ensuring their voices are heard in this important democratic exercise.

Bobi Wine is expected to campaign for his girlfriend Sultan Tana after she is nominated.

The parliamentary seat for Kisoro District Woman MP fell vacant following the death of Sarah Mateke Nyirabashitsi, which occurred on September 7, 2024. The commission has slated the by-election for November 14th, 2024.
