Eastern Africa Parliamentarians Pledge to Accelerate Climate Action for Food Security and Nutrition

Parliamentarians from 11 Eastern African nations have gathered in Nairobi for the 5th General Assembly of the Eastern Africa Parliamentary Alliance for Food Security and Nutrition (EAPA FSN), the meeting taking place at the Mövenpick Hotel in Nairobi.

In light of the transformation of food systems and the need to accelerate the battle against food insecurity and malnutrition, parliamentarians from Eastern Africa discussed climate action, according to a statement from EAPA FSN.

EAPA-FSN brings together parliamentarians from Uganda, Somalia, Djibouti, Ethiopia, Kenya, Tanzania, Burundi, Rwanda, South Sudan, and Eritrea to deliberate on matters of food and nutrition in the region.

The East African Legislative Assembly (EALA) and the IGAD Inter-Parliamentarian Union (IPU) are also members of the Alliance.

According to the Ugandan representatives, Uganda has won the bid to host the 6th Annual General Assembly of the Eastern Africa Parliamentary Alliance for Food Security and Nutrition (EAPA-FSN) in 2024.

Uganda is represented at the Annual General Assembly by Hon. Muwuma Milton (Kigulu South MP), Chair of the Uganda Parliamentary Alliance for Food and Nutrition Security (UPA-FNS), and Mr. Elvis Kizito, Focal Point Person.
