Rwanda Minister of Defence Hon. Juvenal Marizamunda while speaking at the official opening of the 13th EAC command post exercise (CPX)  at Rwanda Defence Force Command and Staff College (RDFCSC) Musanze, called for concerted efforts to curb the changing dynamics in political, economic, and social security.

Hon. Marizamunda thanked member partner states for the confidence and trust they placed in Rwanda to host the exercise.

“The emergency of new changes and conflicts requires a multi-dimensional, comprehensive, integrated approach where mission components have a common strategic plan and shared understanding of priorities. Contemporary security changes have shown us that no individual nation can operate in isolation,” said Hon. Marizamunda.13th EAC command post exercise

He further stated that it is in this context, therefore, that the concept of integrated missions was designed to facilitate a coherent system and a wide approach towards assisting countries on their path to peace and conflict recovery.

According to LT. Gen. Mubarakh Muganga, the Chief of the Rwanda Defence Force, the exercise must mirror the current operation requirements and priorities and encourage a coordinated and synchronized action of different aspects of political, social, and economic development in a conflict environment.

“I urge participants to learn, share experiences, and improve their professional knowledge in order to serve their nations and the region better, “said Lt.Gen. Muganga.

Maj. Gen. Alley Katimbe, EAC Secretary General Representative, applauded the EAC for always holding an organized series of joint military exercises since 2005. He thanked the partner states that have sent contingents for the exercise to address military challenges that help build the required capabilities.

“It must be mentioned here that EAC Defence Forces have gone beyond exercises and are now operating together in several missions such as Somalia, the Eastern Democratic Republic of Congo, and elsewhere,’ said Maj. Gen. Katimbe.

The exercise stimulates a mission based on a hypothetical state that is affected by a political crisis and is designed based on Peace Support Operations (PSO) counter-piracy, and disaster management.

The command Post Exercise is under the theme” Strengthening Security Sector Integration and harnessing Common Interests Consistent with EAC Regional Peace and Stability,”
