In a recent interview, National Unity Platform Party President Robert Kyagulanyi, alias Bobi Wine, declared his intentions to contest against Yoweri Kaguta Museveni for the presidency in the forthcoming 2026 elections.
After losing the 2021 elections, Bobi Wine promised his supporters that he would not contest in any elections again because elections cannot remove President Museveni.
He said he had already finished plans to remove President Museveni before the 2026 election.
Bobi Wine and team have been playing politics of deception and playing to the gallery; they preach water and drink wine. Could it be because they lack the ideas and ideological purity to play smooth politics?
Bobi Wine’s Party has had enough time to correct the wrongs that made them lose the 2021 presidential election bid.
The National Unity Platform is a party that has concetrated in the central region with no visible structures in other regions.
Regardless of having time to create the structures after the 2021 elections, Bobi Wine and his group spend most of their time in America and Europe dining with homosexuals and enjoying boat cruises.
Will he again blame the National Resistance Movement after he loses the 2026 elections?
His declaration to stand for presidency in 2026 after publically demonizing and denouncing elections leaves many unanswered questions.
What has since changed is that he now trusts elections and thinks he will remove Museveni using elections, contrary to what he has been preaching?
Bobi Wine represents the consistent and ever-predictable confusion in Uganda’s opposition politics; they take their supporters for granted and think all of them are gullible.
They play on their minds and use them as conduits for these opposition leaders to amass wealth and live luxurious lives.
Will he ask them to vote for him again after telling them how elections are useless and promising them how Museveni will be out of the first seat before 2026?
It is time for those who support him to think twice and open their eyes to understand the type of politician they are dealing with.
He has done nothing to make his party stronger in preparation for the 2026 elections, even when he has enough time to; he is waiting for 2026 to mislead his few supporters into chaos and violent activities and, in the end, claim to have been rigged when in actual sense he has not worked to look for votes.
It is sad that Bobi Wine and other opposition politicians keep doing the same things but expect different results.
His confusion and deception have conflicted him with fellow party leaders and Buganda Kingdom, and it is predictable that the divisionism will create sprinter political groups that will divide his votes further, and he ends up performing poorly in Buganda Kingdom, which is his only stronghold.
Bobi Wine’s political end is inevitable.
