The Uganda People’s Defense Force, in conjunction with other security agencies, have launched onslaught operations against criminals picking guns from security personnel.

On Sunday, November 27, 2022, the UPDF Spokesperson, Brig. Gen. Felix Kulayigye, said UPDF and sister security forces have launched a full-scale offensive on criminals interested in picking up rifles to make unpalatable the appetite for gun acquisition.

The defense spokesperson warned that any criminals’ attempts on the forces would be met with full force.

This follows the recent ambush on security personnel who were conducting a joint patrol at Kapeka Playground, where a music show was taking place at around 10:30 p.m. on Saturday, November 26, 2022.

Brig. Gen. Kulayigye said, a joint security foot patrol was ambushed and attacked at around 10:30pm in Kikondo cell in Kapeka town council by two suspected assailants armed with one AK-47 rifle.

Private Tufeyo Obed, RA/260979, attached to the Namunkekela Army Detach, was shot dead by the attackers during the incident. Two other assailants were also killed by the security personnel during the incident.
